Went for their huge cup of New England Clam Chowder which is the best anywhere. Mrs. Shirt and I also spilt the Bay Scallops which were fried lightly and to perfection. Didn't have the mashed potatoes we wanted so went with fries which were medicore. Cole slaw side was too vinegery.

Quality of Service: Since we got there right as they opened we were the only customers so got great service.

Cleaniness:This is an old converted bookstore and is very small but the heavy tourist traffic and bar activity makes it less then emaculate but it's cleanliness is acceptable.

Chowder cups and scallop size are huge but...Tourist prices. Way overpriced and charged us extra just to spilt an entree. Food is really good but prices make this a stop for special dining occasions only.

Love the place when its not crowded. Went there on a Saturday rainy night and after the dinner crowd. It was perfect. Sat on the first floor near the bar and was soo relaxing. I've also sat upstairs where its a little more upscale which is very nice. Just a great place to go if visiting New Bern.

I went there for lunch, earlier this week, and had a bowl of their clam chowder.

To paraphrase the family member who introduced me to this restaurant, I now know what clam chowder tastes like. Everything I've had up until know has been potato cream soup with clams in it...

Given that I haven't had a good sample of the menu, I can't give them more than three stars. But, their chowder is worth five by itself.
